Douneside House is the former home of Lady MacRobert who established The MacRobert Trust in memory of her three sons who were all killed as aviators, two as Royal Air Force pilots on operational sorties in 1941.
Today, Douneside House is open for holidays for serving and retired officers of the Armed Services (including the Reserve Forces and Officers of the Air Training Corps, Army Cadet Corps and Sea Cadets) and their accompanying families and guests. Officers of NATO and Commonwealth Armed Forces who are serving in posts in the UK are also welcome. The Guest season runs from 1 May to mid October each year, plus the Easter and Christmas breaks.
Use of the superb Leisure Centre and its facilities is included in the Tariff which is subsidised by The MacRobert Trust so ensuring that guests pay considerably less than at commercial establishments of a similar standard. There are also many outdoor activities and sites of interest for guests of all ages in the stunningly beautiful surrounding Aberdeenshire countryside.
For Officers serving in Iraq or Afghanistan, on POTL or R&R, we are able to offer an additional 25% discount. Please see our website tariff for full details |
