Armed forces day at Newbury races

Free tickets to the races for all military and RBL members

Legion members in Berkshire will kick off this year’s Poppy Appeal with a distinctly equine theme – at Newbury Racecourse.

September 30 - www.legion-magazine.co.uk

The race day, which will be held on 24 October, has been dedicated to the forces. Members of The Royal British Legion and serving personnel will also have free entry to the areas with the best views at the ground’s Premier Enclosure. Additionally, they can benefit from restaurant discounts on the day as well as the chance to sit in a real-life airplane cockpit, or practise their piloting skills in a flight simulator.

Kate Walthew, Marketing Manager for Newbury Racecourse, said: “Following the success of last year’s event, we are looking forward to hosting another great day out for armed forces and their friends and family. The work of The Royal British Legion in supporting friends and families of the armed forces is vital and we’re delighted to be able to lend our support.”

Francesca Yates, Community Fundraiser for the RBL in Berkshire said: "The 2008/9 Poppy Appeal in Berkshire raised more than £660,000 and these funds helped to fund many welfare cases within Berkshire.
"We are confident that the funds raised for 2009/10 will increase with the high profile that our Berkshire launch will receive through our association with Armed Forces Day at Newbury Racecourse."

To reserve free tickets or take advantage of the discounts, you can call 01635 40015 and quote your military ID number or Royal British Legion membership number.
